About the speakers:
Prof. Waiman Cheung is Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, and Director of Asian Institute of Supply Chains&Logistics. Currently he is also the Executive Director of the Asia Pacific Institute of Business at CUHK Business School, where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses.
He holds an MBA and a PhD in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Prof. Cheung has worked closely with local industries for knowledge/technology transfer and has conducted studies and consultancy works for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, DHL, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Dragonair, Accenture, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd., SML Group Ltd. and the Innovation and Technology Commission.
His research interests are mainly in applying IT on logistics and supply chain management. Prof. Cheung has contributed articles to ACM Transactions on Information Systems, Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Annals of Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Decision Support Systems, and Information & Management, etc.
Prof. Mantian (Mandy) Hu is Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing at CUHK Business School. She is also Director of the Centre for Consumer Insights and Director for MSc in Marketing program. She was the winner of the 2011 Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition sponsored by Society for Marketing Advances (USA).
Prof. Hu received BA in Economics from Fudan University and PhD in Marketing from Stern School of Business at New York University. She now serves as an AE for Journal of Business Research and an independent non-executive director for the listed transportation and logistics company SITC International Holdings Company Limited.
Her research focuses on using quantitative models to study and explain consumer behavior and using big data in industries such as telecommunication, automobile, e-commerce and FinTech. Prof. Hu is particularly interested in the effects of social network, word-of-mouth, search and learning on influencing consumer behaviour.
Her research was published in Marketing Science, Management Science, The International Journal of Research in Marketing and other top journals. She edited and published two books, Big Data Applications in the Telecommunications Industry (by IGI Global), and Mining Over Air: Wireless Communication Networks Analytics (by Springer).
